Since 1945, SDYS has worked to provide outstanding music education experiences to any qualified student, regardless of their ability to pay. The Encore! Scholarship Fund provides tuition scholarships, sponsored lessons, instrument loans plus repair and supplies, performance clothing for students in need, parent education workshops, and recruitment activities in underserved communities.
Support A Student
Tuition for one student is usually $1,000 and every gift helps! Please consider a recurring gift in quarterly or monthly installments to support scholarships all year long.
Join the 2024 Encore! Honorary Committee
Purchase a ticket at the Gold Level ($500) and become a member of our Encore! Honorary Committee. You’ll receive special recognition, premier seating, and your name printed in the invitation.
Gold Level tickets: $500 (tax-deductible portion $400)
Silver Level tickets: $300 (tax-deductible portion $220)

THE ENCORE FUND
Designed to Promote Student Success
For nearly 80 years, San Diego Youth Symphony (SDYS) has invested in the future of thousands of young people through the study and performance of music. Through our Youth Orchestra program in historic Balboa Park, community outreach programs across San Diego County, and early childhood music curriculum, we are San Diego’s most comprehensive provider of cradle-to-college music education. At SDYS, we serve thousands of student musicians and their families every year, using music as a vehicle to give young people the social, emotional, and academic skills that prepare them to enter a 21st-century workforce. No qualified student is ever turned away for financial reasons: families who cannot afford to pay are given comprehensive support through The Encore Fund.

WHAT IS THE ENCORE FUND?
The Encore Fund goes even further by providing more comprehensive assistance designed to promote student success.
In addition to direct tuition assistance, your investment in the Encore Fund provides:
- Group or private lessons free of charge
- Instrument loans to students who need them
- Free instrumental supplies, cases and repairs
- Performance clothing to students who don’t have formal wear
- Free concert tickets to scholarship families
- Parent engagement programs and a parent liaison position
- Community-based programs that bring music into our schools
How does this help?
- Students who receive assistance through the Encore Fund have a better chance
of advancing through our program at the same or similar rate as their peers. - It makes SDYS more reflective of the communities we serve and builds bridges
between our programs.

BRAVO!
Bravo! is a membership group that supports our community’s most talented young musicians.
Bravo! members recognize both the talent and achievement of these young musicians and offers them vital support.

ABOUT BRAVO!
Bravo members are passionate donors to San Diego Youth Symphony (SDYS) who believe that music education is a doorway to opportunity for children, and that every child deserves access to quality programs. Our goal is to reach 100 members to raise $40,000 annually to support SDYS programs in Balboa Park and SDYS’ neighborhood engagement strategies throughout San Diego County.
Benefits:
- Invitations to three Socials each season. These intimate performances feature some of our most accomplished musicians in premier venues. Guests enjoy small bites and wine upon arrival, and a reception following the performance with coffee and dessert.
- Preferred seating at all SDYS concerts.
- Friendship with other Bravo! members who believe in the lifelong value of music education.
Membership:
Silver members: $400 single/$800 dual
(Tax deductible portion $325 single/$650 dual)
Gold members: $600 single/$1200 dual • Gold members receive ticket(s) to all SDYS ticketed concerts.
